SERVICES

General:

Thank you for considering my counseling services.

If this is the first time that you are considering availing counseling services, you may like to learn more about the process, what you can expect, and what is expected of you.

Once the initial paper work is completed, my role during the first few sessions will be to assist you in clarifying what you want to achieve -- in other words to determine the goals of the therapy. If you come as a couple or a family, the same process will be followed -- wherein I will listen and understand each person’s point of view and develop goals agreeable to all. How long it will take to achieve the set goals or whether they will be attained depends upon many factors. One important factor being the participation and responsiveness of each individual. I cannot just “fix” the problem.

During the process I may question you, comfort you, laugh with you, cry with you, tell my stories and listen to yours, confront you, give you some tests, make some recommendations, assign some tasks…and together we will build a mutually respectful, trusting, genuine, professional relationship. It is this unique relationship that will play a major role in resolving your problems and help make some positive changes in your life and relationships.

Confidentiality:

I absolutely respect your right to privacy, especially regarding information you share in therapy. I maintain strict confidentiality in general about you being my client and of your records unless you or the law requires that I release them to a particular entity.

Appointment:

In line with my philosophy of being as accommodative as possible to my clients' needs and the desire to keep the counseling process as relaxed as possible, I give appointments virtually at any time -- including late evenings and weekends. I meet clients at my office, if necessary in their homes, or at another mutually agreed upon place. I also remain available to converse on the phone -- sometimes even doing major therapeutic work by phone!

In order to give full justice to the needs of my client, to give my best, and to maintain confidentiality about you being my client, I usually do not book back to back appointments. I also expect you to give similar importance to the appointment and what we intend to accomplish when we meet.

My telephone number is answered 24 hours a day. Please feel free to leave messages any time. I always answer as soon as possible -- usually the same day. Incase I am on vacation, either you will know in advance or my answering service will give you the necessary information.

Fees:

All fees as per the following schedule are due at the time services are rendered. Actual payment arrangements and the method of payment will be worked out with each client individually in the beginning of the counseling process.

I may clarify here that if a particular client is unable to avail counseling only because of financial constraints, I will attempt to make reasonable accomodation.

Termination:

Termination is an important part of the therapy process. Termination may take place at any time and be initiated by anyone involved in the therapy process. However, it is very important to meet for at least one session after the decision has been made to discontinue the therapy. This will enhance the continued benefit from the therapeutic work already done.
